Stonehenge Map in Extended Groundplan

To enable readers to follow subsequent astronomical identification of stones and parameters at Stonehenge more easily, we present here our own extended original drawing of the Groundplan of the larger Stonehenge site. A further interpretative groundplan map -- with a unique view of the "station stones" and the purpose of Stonehenge generally -- follows in the subsequent posting.

Please note that the black marks represent upright stones. Many of the stones that mainstream archaeologists think of currently as "fallen" were in fact intentionally placed horizontally, as at Arbor Low. See our previous posting at Stonehenge Deciphered. Such "flat" placed stones are marked grey in color.

Our placements of earthworks and stones in that drawing are not perfect (but we trust close enough to be useful). They are based on the fundamental Stonehenge groundplan drawing -- protected by Crown Copyright, and hence not used by us in the original here -- as prepared by the Ancient Monuments Branch, Ministry of Public Building and Works, England, as that drawing was reproduced on the inside front and back covers of Gerald S. Hawkins, Stonehenge Decoded, Doubleday, Garden City, New York.

In addition, we relied on a marvelously drawn map by Anthony Johnson at The Stones of Stonehenge to add more stones than those on the above cited map.

Our own drawing is new because we needed to prepare a somewhat simpler presentation -- if the above drawing can be called "simpler" --  in which the numbering was better readable and some of the main features more visible, e.g. our simpler presentation of the outer hinge earthworks. Our placements are at best "approximate". This is not a professional survey.

We also did not try to mirror exactly the shapes of the stones from above, although the shape of some stones from above is in fact important (stones 38 and 14, and 9a and 9b, for example). Some stones we show from the side (e.g. 16, the reason will become clear in the next postings).

But first, let us take a look at an interpretative version of the above map, especially our view of the main axis and the so-called "station stones".

Stanford's Glasser on Facts and Truth in Election Coverage and Elsewhere

At Stanford Magazine, Stanford's own Professor of Communication Theodore L. Glasser asks us to consider this:
The Ethics of Election Coverage: A novel take on objectivity.

We agree fully with Glasser that many people on our planet, also many journalists, glibly pass off their biased personal opinions to the gullible masses as objective and neutral "truthy" thought-making, and that this is a common practice not just in the "election game", but also in academia.

Glasser writes inter alia that citing a person accurately, for example, may not necessarily be truthful in its finest sense (it can be out of context, it can emphasize a meaning never intended, it can be used merely support the citing person's own twisted opinions rather than to obtain deeper insights, etc.), and we concur fully when Glasser writes, for example:

"What might be an alternative to objectivity, a better way to understand the role and responsibilities of a free and independent press?" . . .

We might describe what journalists write with the same sense of modesty Clifford Geertz uses to describe what anthropologists write: an “intrinsically incomplete” and “essentially contestable” account of the world. We might come to realize that, as Rorty insists, meaning endures in history, not in nature; there are no finally “correct” or “accurate” accounts of the world; all descriptions are interpretations in the sense that everything can be redescribed. We might [describe history] not as "a fixed thing, a collection of precise dates, facts and events that add up to a quantifiable, certain, confidently known truth" but "as a mysterious and malleable thing, constantly changing, not just as new information emerges, but as our own interests, emotions and inclinations change."

And that is the truth!

Stonehenge Deciphered

This is the first in a number of postings of a new decipherment of Stonehenge. You will very likely never see Stonehenge with the same eyes again.

We show here two decipherment images of Stonehenge from the air, the second is 180° turned, and it is ESSENTIAL to look at that second image, because you will never see Stonehenge the same again, never....and that second view will dispel some doubts you may have after viewing the first image.... Make sure you see the "head" explanation.... which resolves many outstanding questions about Stonehenge, its completion, and design....

Thereafter we shall be presenting numerous of our own photographs of Stonehenge, detailing the decipherment with text-labeled explanatory photos.

This decipherment supersedes our previous Stonehenge work, which was based on limited photographs of others prior to the year 2005.

In 2005 we traveled to England and took our own comprehensive photographs on site, photographing Stonehenge 360° around the entire circle. It has taken us 11 years, off and on, to complete the evaluation and decipherment.

These first two aerial decipherment images are dedicated to the memory of my father, Arvids Kaulins, who would have turned 102 years of age today, had he lived that long. Rest in peace.

Decipherment of Stonehenge: 1 of 2 -- make sure you look at the 2nd image and find the large head (read the small label at the top left of image 2).... which makes much commentary superfluous....

Decipherment of Stonehenge: 2 of 2 - Look at the whole image as a head facing right .... this is the view that the ancients intended, with greetings!

The photographs that follow show the Stonehenge standing (and fallen or not fallen) stone Sarsens from many perspectives and analyze individual megaliths as well. Essentially, the "head" you see above is the "design" that the ancients intended. All the rest of the idle speculation by mainstream scholars and other writers can be archived as curiosities....

Although we do not know him personally, we must make special mention of Nicholas R. Mann and his book Avebury Cosmos. Taking note of the galactic understanding presented there of the importance of the Milky Way ca. 5000 years ago, we were previously able to decipher the Avebury Henge Circle standing stones, and we published our decipherments of Avebury Stone #10 previously at this blog.

We then applied that "galactic" knowledge taken from Avebury to the Stonehenge sarsens, presuming that a similar astronomical system of orientation had been followed throughout the centuries and millennia.

And so it is.

Make sure you look at our photographs as we post them over coming weeks.
