Book Reviews by Frank Funicello - A Murder Trial Out of Australia, Baseball, Kevin Costner, Cinema

Take me to the movies... and READS.

Did someone say "cinema", "baseball", "Kevin Costner", and "books"?

Frank Funicello is a relative of Annette Funicello, the star of the Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeers in the 1950's. Frank has started READS, a book review blog (with occasional cinema reviews) at Past and Present Reads. Frank really knows his books and movies.

Thus far he has short takes on cinema, baseball, a murder trial, and more:
  • for Baseball fans and Kevin Costner fans, see Frank's Say it ain't so, where he writes:
"Yesterday, the Canadian writer W.P. Kinsella passed into his own field
of dreams.  A lot of people may have never heard of him but his novel Shoeless Joe went on to become the film Field of Dreams,
with which many are familiar.  As often is the case, the book was
better than the film, although the film wasn't awful, just a touch on
the "schmaltzy" side and personally I think it was Kevin Costner's best
movie next to his Bull Durham.
    "

Chomsky Theory of Language Learning Rebutted by the Evidence

Here we have another case surfacing of "mainstream science" theories in the humanities being rebutted because they do not fit the actual evidence. See the Scientific American in Evidence Rebuts Chomsky's Theory of Language Learning. Chomsky is one of most quoted mainstream scientists in our era, but his theories about language learning are simply wrong. Language is WORDS, while grammar is a nice touch, but it has little to do with the way language is naturally learned.

Back to Gravity: Dark Matter WIMPS Experimentally Non-Existent

No posited WIMPS of "dark matter" found experimentally. Well, we have said all along that "Dark Matter" can only be Gravity. The problem is its measurement. The Standard Model of modern Physics excludes gravity - i.e. the Standard Model explains a world that does not exist. See the article at Scientific American. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/physics-confronts-its-heart-of-darkness/?WT.mc_id=SA_SPC_20160901
