Given the increasingly technological nature of our modern world, perhaps this trend is inevitable.
Nevertheless, there are many other great schools in the land, both private and public, just look for example at Yale and Princeton, or State schools such as the University of Michigan or Chicago or the California State college system, and all this together with many talented young students and exceptional faculty members in selected disciplines in numerous colleges and universities throughout the country.
This is one of the great unparalleled strengths of the American system of higher education. So-called top-ranked universities only manifest the tip of the pyramid of excellence.
