The Winklevii and the Facebook IPO: We CHEER for The Winklevoss Twins: For the Rest NOT

At the Deal Journal at the Wall Street Journal, David Benoit has the story at Facebook IPO: The Winklevoss Twins Are Probably Pretty Rich - Deal Journal - WSJ.

Nevertheless, if the Winklevoss Twins had been fairly compensated for actually founding ConnectU, which later became Facebook, their share would be and should be much larger.

Instead, some of the lion's share went to the REST, i.e. those less deserving, and in spite of clear tax dodging by individuals, one can not forget that modern technology corporations avoid taxes via outdated intellectual property laws, which seem to pop up negatively no matter where you look.

P.S. I see that Silvia Killingsworth has just written a very nice piece at The New Yorker titled The Winklevii.

Facebook IPO Finds Insiders Selling Extra Shares

At the Wall Street Journal,
David Benoit, Shayndi Raice and Anupreeta Das
report in Facebook IPO: Insiders Cashing Out
about the forthcoming Facebook IPO on May 17, 2002 (the IPO price should be set Thursday afternoon).

At the Washington Post, Hayley Tsukayama writes that some analysts are even speculating that a price of over $40 a share may be reached.

Some brokerages stopped taking Facebook IPO orders which suggests that the IPO is probably oversubscribed. Some commenters suggest it may be better to wait with Facebook investment, but no one really knows for sure.

Public trading starts on Friday.

Specifically, Jill Goldsmith writes at Variety in Facebook IPO could hit other media firms:
"Facebook stock will be priced Thursday afternoon and start trading Friday morning on the Nasdaq under the symbol FB."
Please be advised that this is NOT investment advice of any kind but only a selection of various news and views about the Facebook IPO.

HTC Products Delayed at US Customs Because of Alleged Apple Patent Infringement: How Far the Once Mighty Land of the USA Has Fallen in Recent Years

No one is forcing Americans to buy Apple products, but soon, they will have no other choice....

Competing products to Apple from overseas are now -- in an unprecedented move -- being stopped at customs because of "alleged" patent infringements.

Lawsuits are also in place trying to stop the sale of Android devices, etc., for example, the products of Samsung, the current world leader in smartphones.

And the clueless American legal system is letting it all happen.

The entire intellectual property law system of the USA is a system in chaos.
America is an intellectual property law MESS!

Who would believe it if we did not see it.

Just imagine if this sets the precedent that ANY product against which a patent infringement lawsuit is bought could be barred at US Customs from entering the country.

Now THERE is a great way to put an end to any competition. Fast. Who cares how the legal contest ends, maybe years down the road.

Read the story at The Verge in

HTC One X and Evo 4G LTE indefinitely delayed at US Customs for investigation of Apple patent infringement

where it is written,
"The HTC One X and Evo 4G LTE are notable devices for many reasons, but today they become notorious: they're the first devices to face an import delay at US Customs for potentially infringing an Apple patent."
We would imagine that if the United States does not get a legal grip on itself, and stop cowtowing to Apple and similar patent trolls, there will be trade wars down the road which America -- which manufactures almost NOTHING itself anymore, leaving it all to the Far East etc. -- can only lose. A country that manufactures virtually nothing of adequate quality for world markets is playing big shot by patent trolling. That is not going to work.

The rest of the world can only shake its head in disbelief.

How far the mighty land of America has fallen.
