Of What Use are Legal Rights if You Can Not Afford to Enforce Them? "Hearing set on legal needs of NY poor" - AP via WSJ.com

One of the most disturbing aspects of the shift in American earning patterns -- i.e. toward ever more money going to the rich and ever less money going to the poor and middle classes, is that it skews legal rights unjustly.

Rights are only of value if you can enforce them and in the modern world you can not enforce many rights the way they should be enforced if you can not afford to do so.

Take a look at this AP report at the Wall Street Journal on Hearing set on legal needs of NY poor.

Money talks, especially in the legal field.

The more money you have, the better your legal representation tends to be.

Now, is that the American way?
or the country we really want?
or should everyone be able to protect their rights equally?

Just imagine what the country would look like if all the best lawyers worked to represent the rights of bottom 10% rather than the rights of the top 10%.

I am not saying it should be done, but you get the picture.
