Gigantic and Controverial Mosel Bridge Moved Virtually to Traunstein Berchtesgadener Land, Home to the German Transport Minister and also Pope Benedict XVI: Loftier, Higher!

Dr. Peter Ramsauer, the German Transport Minister, hails from beer-brewing German Bavaria, where there is perhaps in some political circles no great understanding for the competing world of oenology and wine.

An apparent lack of environmental comprehension is however more difficult to interpret, as the Bavarians are known environmentalists. Indeed, the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Public Health (StMUG) was first created by the Bavarian State Parliament as recently as October 30, 2008! Surely it is not a lack of experience?

Minister Ramsauer is an elected representative of Traunstein / Berchtesgadener Land in Germany, location of the 57 meter high tower of the St. Oswald Parish Church of Traunstein (Stadtpfarrkirche St. Oswald (Traunstein)), where the then 10-year-old current Roman Catholic Pope, Joseph Ratzinger, Pope Benedict XVI, was confirmed by Cardinal Faulhaber on June 9, 1937.

We can well speak of lofty places when we speak of Traunstein.

By comparison, however, the planned "Titanic gigantic" Mosel Bridge is 100 meters higher than St Oswald Church, which at 57 meters dominates the scene of Traunstein, but is no match for the planned Mosel Bridge.

How much better it might be for Traunstein to add an even higher construction to the town. The Mosel Bridge offers itself to the region. Luck for the citizens!

Since Ramsauer is such a great proponent of this bridge, as can be read at the links below, we suggest that the Mosel Bridge be built instead over the village of Traunstein as a modern monolithic, indeed, perhaps even religious monument to the famous people from that region, surely to the delight of the current Roman Catholic Pope, Minister Ramsauer, and his local voters.

After all, what is good enough for the citizens of the Mosel is good enough for Traunstein and Berchtesgadener Land. That would look something like this (we have added the planned Mosel Bridge in approximately the representative comparable size to a photograph of Traunstein found at an EU-subsidized transportation-directed web page):

Ramsauer fordert Entschädigung für Baustopp an Moselbrücke

Bund will Entschädigung für Hochmoselbrücke-Baustopp

Ramsauer pocht auf Entschädigung für Baustopp an Moselbrücke

The building of the Mosel Bridge over Traunstein would of course end all discussion about reparation of damages to the federal government by the Palatinate since the bridge then WOULD BE BUILT, in die 'Höh' (raised on high).

World Wine Lovers: Write to the German Chancellor Now to Tell Her They Have Gone Too Far with the Mosel Bridge

Wine pope Hugh Johnson wrote last year at Decanter.com about the planned monstrous Mosel Bridge to run through the middle of one of the world's greatest wine-growing regions, calling it "a bridge gone too far".

See The Mosel: A bridge too far .

Johnson recommends
that all lovers of wine around the world write to the German Chancellor Angela Merkel to tell her that this planned bridge is a big mistake:
"Every wine lover should stand up and protest. If you agree with me, contact the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel (write to her at angela.merkel@cdu.de), and open a bottle of Urziger, Graacher, Wehlener… you choose."
