Russia Votes in 2008 Presidential Election

The Presidential Election today in Russia (more correctly Russian Federation, Росси́йская Федера́ция, Rossiyskaya Federatsiya) covers 11 time zones (including Kaliningrad, formerly Königsberg) and some of the polls have already closed at the time that we are writing this posting:

Russia covers 6,592,800 sq mi (17,075,400 km²) and as the world's largest country is thus almost twice as large in area as the United States at 3,794,066 sq mi (9,826,630 km²), which ranks 3rd in size behind Canada at 3,854,085 sq mi (9,984,670 km²) with China 4th at 3,704,426 sq mi (9,596,960 km²).
