Who reads LawPundit? We know from statistics produced by web traffic analyzing programs that LawPundit reaches a worldwide audience, e.g. in the last two weeks, there have been visitors from over 50 countries.
Although we can of course not identify individual readers, it is possible to obtain analytical statistics concerning geographic distribution. To view how that is possible in principle, click on IP-Locator. To see how this is applied statistically click on the SiteMeter button at the bottom of this page and then click at the SiteMeter page on Recent Visitors "by location".
Google has now introduced a new and similar traffic analyzing feature called Google Analytics which is proving to be so popular among webmasters and website owners that we received the following recent e-mail from the people at Google:
"[D]ue to extremely high demand, we've temporarily limited the number of new signups as we increase capacity. This allows us to focus on our primary objective--to provide a great user experience for our existing users."
We began to receive web traffic reports from our newly installed Google Analytics on November 17. The information that Google provides is not really new as such, since programs such as SiteMeter and other competitors have long provided similar services.
Below one can see the Google Analytics Executive Overview for LawPundit from November 17 to November 23:

The above report indicates that we had 506 visits and 900 page views that particular week. 50% of the LawPundit visitors come via Google and the other 50% via other means (direct access, other search engines, RSS). In any given week, about 25% of the visitors are return visitors, i.e. regular readers.
What is most interesting in Google Analytics is the "Geo Map Overlay" which contains clickable buttons on a world map showing the parts of the world from which the visitors have come. SiteMeter.com has a similar feature.
Here are two resizes of the Google Analytics map overlay:

Using Google Analytics and the somewhat more detailed information available to us at SiteMeter.com we can view the geographic locations of LawPundit visitors for the last two weeks, without of course being able to identify any individuals (in fact, single locations often mark multiple visitors, e.g. New York City):

China - The Chinese government just started (Nov. 22, 2005) an English beta version of their official website. This is interesting since US President Bush was in China for a three-day visit from the 19th to exactly that 22nd of November, having previously visited Japan and the Republic of Korea.

Korea
Seoul - The LawPundit has edited and co-edited several books with Korean professors including: Prof. Kie-Taek Kim and Andis Kaulins, ed., The Foreign Policies and Foreign Trade of the German Democratic Republic and the Korean Democratic People's Republic. Kiel, West Germany: German Korea-Studies Group, 1979. The book was published by my good friend Prof. Dr. Youn-Soo Kim, who passed away some years ago, but about whom was recently written:
"In the 1980s the greatest activity in the study of the past and present of the Koryo saram was to be found amongst Western and American-Korean scholars. Kim Youn-Soo, a professor at Kiel University (Germany) and Daegu University (Korea), has published a book compiling his impressions, notes from his travels in the Soviet Union, a historiographical review of Korean ethnology in the former USSR and essays on the history and the culture of the soviet Koreans. His only book about soviet Koreans can only be tentatively included among the annals of scientific research, so it has languished out of the view of domestic and foreign Korean studies. Yet merit for publishing the three anthologies of lyric poetry and short novels including this book must undoubtedly go to Kim Youn-Soo."
