"If, as Soren Kierkegaard believed, life is best understood backward, then the holidays are an ideal time to attempt to unravel the secrets of our age through an end-of-the-year quiz. Below are more than a hundred questions to ponder over a cup of coffee, with your feet up. For, as Kierkegaard also knew, “Far from idleness being the root of all evil, it is rather the only true good.”There are questions upon questions -- and of course -- answers. Take a look.
Here is a sample, Question Number 2. Who tweeted this statement in 2012?
“This election is a total sham and a travesty. We are not a democracy!”Well, we knew the answer to that one.
Hint. That Tweet reportedly came from a famous person badly embarrassed by a certain President at a dinner in a capital city prior to the election.... Well, one might venture to think that one reaps what one sows. If you challenge another man's birth, which is a pretty basic denial of another man's existence, you surely can expect little mercy down the road, now, can you?
On the other hand, we ourselves have no proof that the Tweet actually came from the alleged quarter. So one has to be careful. No names here. You will have to go to the New York Times to know more. They have more resources.
It is rather shocking in any case to see that one of the major benefactors of democracy and of the economic capitalistic system it has created, could allegedly so badly twist the reality of America for sheer personal reasons.
We would, to the contrary, point out that it is remarkably foolish to expect in a country in which so many people are poor, that the majority of the electorate vote for the minority party of the rich. Democracy is by definition a system of majority rule and if the majorities in the country all got out and voted their actual situation, Congress would not today be inexcusably deadlocked in running the country and making changes that need to be made to get the nation back on its feet again.
