Commercial Exploitation of Player Images by NCAA: Legal or Illegal without Payments to Athletes?

Hausfeld Says NCAA Created "Student Athlete" to Avoid Liability, Payments

There is no question in our mind of the antitrust illegality of the NCAA requirement that student-athletes have to sign over their image rights to the NCAA or be declared ineligible for college athletics.

This is a classic case of an antitrust violation per se, and the use of monopoly rights to extract gigantic profits while defrauding young people of their image rights.

There is NO necessary relationship whatsoever between an athlete playing college athletics and the alleged need of the NCAA to obtain total rights to their images as players.

The only reason that the players' images are taken is to put money into the pockets of universities, administrators, coaches, and a horde of third parties who profit enormously from college athletics at the cost of the athletes.
