Religion and the State and the Case of High School Graduation at a Christian-Owned Site: Does the ACLU Have Nothing Better to Do with its Time

Somehow, many people in law and elsewhere in the United States have their wires crossed about religious symbols and the permissible and impermissible mixture of state and religion.

Greatly at fault for this are the desolate opinions of the U.S. Supreme Court in the religious sphere.

When TAX LAWS enable sects, superstitions and religions to escape taxation, THAT is state support of religion. Such government "enablement" in the religious sphere is clearly prohibited by the U.S. Constitution -- and yet the courts allow it because they do not understand the law.

Worse, as in a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision, when superstitious groupings so supported are furthermore enabled by the U.S. Supreme Court to disturb solemn funerals of the nation's citizens held in honor of their deceased -- a funerary tradition of culture that reaches back millennia -- then simple decency and the things that make America great have been replaced by foolish hobgoblins of little minds sitting on court benches.

When young people hold their graduation ceremonies in a building that also has Christian crosses, that is a part of their everyday culture and that is by no means state support of religion, and yet, I would not be surprised if the U.S. Supreme Court would prohibit that, while holding at the same time that any high school graduation could easily be disturbed by religious nuts brandishing religious symbols of every description as "free speech".

Poor America. They have it all ssa-backwards.
